A strong visual language with a bold font created a brand identity for this funky disco DJ duo

Disco Freaks are two DJs dedicated to disco, funk, jazz and soul. They needed a brand design that was simple, original, played well on Instagram and was memorable to partygoers especially in the dark light of a club.

CHK focused on strong bespoke lettering based on Herb Lubalin’s Avant Garde font, one of the most popular of the early 70s and therefore chronologically coherent with the duo’s chosen musical era.

Taking reference from vintage album covers, CHK set up a visual directory that recreated the feel of a nu-disco club: dreamy colours and hazy gradients recall the smoke machines and psychedelia of a night lost in music. CHK then used strong graphics and striking photography to create enticing flyers and social assets.
